[Dt.:] "Die Website von Tell el-Dab'a, die als Hyksos Hauptstadt Avaris identifiziert wurde, liegt im östlichen Nildelta, ca. 8 km nördlich der modernen Stadt Faqus. Berühmt unter den zahlreichen Funden, die bisher vom Österreichischen Archäologischen Institut entdeckt wurden (unter der Leitung von Manfred Bietak von 1966 bis 2009 und seit 2009 von Irene Forstner-Müller) sind die außergewöhnlichen Wandmalereien. An der Stelle des heutigen Dorfes 'Ezbet Helmi wurden sie in einem palastartigen Zone der frühen 18. Dynastie auf dem östlichen Ufer des pelusischen Nilarm entdeckt". - [Engl.:] "The site of Tell el-Dab’a, identified as the Hyksos capital Avaris, is located in the Eastern Nile delta, about 8km north of the modern town Faqus. Amidst the numerous finds so far uncovered by the Austrian Archaeological Institute – led from 1966 to 2009 by Manfred Bietak, since 2009 by Irene Forstner-Müller – the wall paintings are among the most exceptional. At the site of the modern village ‘Ezbet Helmi they have been detected within a palatial precinct of the early 18th Dynasty at the eastern bank of the Pelusiac branch of the Nile".
